Читая список открываешь для себя, что до первой Final Fantasy было не так уж и мало игр, для ряда которых Square выступала в качестве издателя. Первые игры выходили на компьютер PC-8801. Первой игрой на Famicom собственной разработки была Suishō no Dragon (довольно странное кинцо, геймплея я не заметил). Вторая игра, попавшая уже и на NES была The 3-D Battles of WorldRunner - боевик от третьего лица с режимом 3D через анаглифные очки!

В этом 1987 году вышло много игр, для которых Square являлась как издателем, так и девелопером. Вот к примеру Apple Town Story (порт на Famicom игры Little Computer People от Activision).

И тем не менее Final Fantasy была создана как отчаянная попытка остаться на плаву. Идея игры была не шибко оригинальной, а скорее была подсмотрена у более ранней (и более успешной) Dragon Quest, изданной компанией Enix (Dragon Quest, Star Ocean, Valkyrie Profile), с которой в 2001 году в виду обоюдных финансовых проблем Square и объединилась (хотя совместные тайтлы появляются только в 2004).

Mega Man (Rockman) (December 17, 1987)

15 декабря 2013 года. Начал играть в Megaman. Первая стадия "Cutman' показалась перенасыщенной цветом 'cyon', поставил режим палитры 'mattc.pal' вместо 'RGB', возможно, в этом не прав. Игра представлялась легкой, но сделав пару шагов встретился с летающими мордами, которые убиваются только точным выстрелом при подлете, в противном случае они будут доставать тебя долго, пока не попадешь в них или не убежишь достаточно далеко, да еще и ресуректятся, если вернуться назад. Дальше идут турели, с которыми проще, они хотябы статичны. На турелях я почувствовал, что раскладка кнопок какая-то неудобная, и был прав, кнопки в эмуляторе были перепутаны. Вернул также 'RGB'. Пока играю без читов. Есть полоска брони, 3 жизни (2, 1, 0) и ? континьюмов (God, how I love these words!). План: поиграть пока не кончатся континьюмы (один уже взял), узнать сколько их, поставить чит на жизни. Хорошо, что в игре нет ограничения по времени. Также нужно узнать, что дают каждый из дроп-айтемс: красный шарик, синий ромб и желтый ромбик (броня). И добавить иллюстраций.

Я дошел до боса, но жизней не хватило, я воспользовался континьюмом, но меня отбросило на начало уровня. Надо включать бесконечные жизни. Для включения читов зачем-то решил перезапустить эмулятор, который встретил меня списком из крупных иконок, артворк которых был пуст. Я решил вставить картинки, но они просто так не вставлялись. Я скачал пак иконок. Словил BSOD. Забил на него. Повесил часы (IRL). Почитал про игру на Википедии и Лурке, посмотрел видео на Youtub'е, подписался на новый канал... Добавил пак обложек, который содержит правильные названия игр, что дает мне подсказку, какую версию рома использовать из огромного количества ромов в архиве с игрой. Но в этот раз я просто переименовал ром из Mega Man в Mega Man (U). Потом в этот воскресный зимний пасмурный полдень мы решили полежать, что для меня вылилось в сон до 11 вечера. Встав, я выпил чаю, дочитал все статьи с Лурка, которые открыл пока читал про Мегамена. Запустил игру на том месте, где я ее оставил (перед схваткой с Катменом), раза эдак с 10-20 победил моего первого босса в этой игре на последней полоске брони. Взялся за следующий уровень по часовой стрелке и бросил, раз 5 не дойдя и раза 3 дойдя до площадок, нижняя из которых опрокидывает тебя с нее. Хардкор!
